Meeting Anna and Beth and their adorable daughter Ellie for the first time was a lot of fun. We sat out on the porch of their beautiful 100 year old home and watched the sun start to go down as we chatted about birth, photography, IUI, life. That was in September. I learned that Ellie (who was not yet 3 at the time) loved the show “Call the Midwife,” and that Beth’s labor with her had lasted 96 hours.
They invited me to their home visit with their midwives in January, in preparation for their upcoming home birth. It’s always fun to get to know and work along side a team that you’ve worked with before. (Central Indiana Nurse Midwives: http://www.midwifeusa.net/home)
Lynda (their midwife) had made the comment that, despite big sister Ellie coming 3 weeks early, she wouldn’t be surprised if Beth made it into February –her estimated due date was the 5th. And sure enough, baby Lila was ready that very day.
The majority of us arrived at the exact same time, just before 8 in the morning. Contractions had started pretty regularly around 3am.
Beth had a great support team, between her midwives, doula, Anna and even Ellie. The mood was peaceful; the room filled with love and affirmations from friends and family.
And Beth rocked it.
I LOVED photographing this sweet time for your adorable family. Thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of it. It was just precious to see the way Ellie transitioned so easily into the role of Big Sister. And she was such a great helper. I’m looking forward to the day that she becomes a midwife herself, and I get to photograph along side her. 😉
I wish you girls all the happiness in the world! Congratulations!!
